Modeling and Analysis of Offshore Crane Retrofitted With Cable-Driven Inverted Tetrahedron Mechanism

Crane operations might be very dangerous in rough sea conditions due to unexpected payload swing induced by ship excitations. In this paper, a novel Cable-Driven Inverted Tetrahedron Mechanism (CDITM) is presented suppress the for sake of workers' safety. The CDITM retrofitting on an offshore crane simplified as constrained pendulum with moving base, and its equations motion are obtained Newton Euler Method. Next, three-dimensional dynamic analysis performed using Matlab/Simulink, influence law excitations, tagline tension, pose configuration investigated. Finally, through comparative experimental verification, it found that simulation tendencies in-plane follows experiment curves quite well, variations between results acceptable. Thus modeling verified. theoretical fundamental valuable engineering application industries.
